Patrick has worked on cartographic projects for more than 25 years, beginning by manually marking around 1,000 ski areas on to a European Road Atlas published by Philips.
In the 1990s Patrick also worked on early versions of SAT NAV systems with the German company Teleatlas and on early digital maps published initial on CD by Microsoft before the world wide web took off, particularly their Autorote Express products.
In the 2000s Patrick worked on trade publications such as the travel industry’s World travel atlas on detailed ski maps of Europe and North America with resort entries colour and symbol coded to indicated size and significance by factors such as biggest verticals, most runs or greatest hourly uplift.
This was made possible by combining location data with database data snowed in the Snow24 database.
More recently Patrick has stored more than 5,000 GPS locations of ski resorts around the world so can export location data for use on sites and apps.
