Another specialist area of Patrick’s work is the collection of lift ticket pricing. This data now goes back around 15 seasons.
Patrick records the minimum and maximum prices for 1 and 6 day ticket prices for a selection of around 500 ski resorts worldwide each winter, allowing for data comparison between resorts and from season to season.
The research includes looking at the different age bands for which children and in some cases older adults receive discounted and free tickets, and other savings such as family deals.
In some years Patrick compiles a ‘World Ski Lift Ticket Price Guide’ which summarises trends and is available to purchase. Buyers have included ski resorts, financial institutions and universities.
Data is also available to purchase in spreadsheet form and Patrick also has some paper files from resorts worldwide storing prices from the 1980s and 1990s.
