Interested in the opportunities to ski and board year round; and at lower cost closer to population centres, and to grow grass roots wintersports fans, Patrick established Snow365.com in 2002 with a business partner, Rachel Gunnells, who is based in the US.
Snow365 collects information on artificial surface slopes – of which Snow365 have discovered more than 500 worldwide; and indoor snow centres – of which more than 100 have now been built over the past 30 years in around 25 countries worldwide.
Patrick has researched artificial slopes and indoor snow centres right back to the 1930s when they first began to appear and has unmatched knowledge of the global history and spread of these methods of enjoying snowsports year round and in urban environments.
Along with its website at Snow365.com, the service has published a monthly indoor snow and dry slopes newsletter year round since it was established, publishing more than 1,500 industry news stories over the years.
Patrick has also compiled ‘The World Indoor Snow Centre Guide’ which lists all the indoor snow centres ever built or proposed, the companies involved, the different technologies and contains a great deal more information. Now more than 250 pages and 50,000 words long it is regularly updated and sold as a digital document for £100.
A similar but smaller report, ‘The World Artificial Ski Slope Guide’ is also available for the same price.
